OPEN HOUSE PERIOD

The Open House period spans 10 days before tryouts, with three allocated sessions for each age group. These sessions are essential for your daughter to not only showcase her skills but also become familiar with the Sky coaching staff and the environment in which she’ll be training and competing. Open Houses allow both players and coaches to assess where your daughter fits best within the program.

Each session features position-specific drills, giving our coaches and front office staff the ability to focus on her technique, strengths, and areas for improvement. After drills, situational gameplay allows us to evaluate her decision-making, teamwork, and ability to adapt under pressure. This comprehensive process helps us assess her overall athletic potential and team dynamics.

For new players, Open Houses are also an opportunity to get to know our coaching philosophy, team culture, and training environment. Whether your daughter is experienced or new to competitive volleyball, these sessions provide a supportive setting for her to demonstrate her abilities and build confidence before tryouts.

THE EVALUATION PROCESS

During each session, our coaches and front office staff will carefully observe every player, focusing on her skills, work ethic, and potential. Feedback is provided from multiple perspectives, ensuring a thorough and balanced evaluation of your daughter.

SHOULD WE ATTEND ALL THREE OPEN HOUSE SESSIONS?

We highly recommend attending all three Open House sessions. Each session offers unique opportunities for evaluation, giving our coaching staff a well-rounded view of your daughter’s abilities. The more exposure she gets, the better we can assess her skills and how she fits within the team.

Before your daughter can participate in Open Houses, she must have an active USAV membership, as required by USA Volleyball and the Arizona Region. This membership is mandatory for all players stepping onto the court. If your daughter does not yet have a membership, please ensure it is obtained and up to date before the event. Our tryouts are designed to closely mirror our open house sessions, providing a structured opportunity for your daughter to showcase her abilities in both position-specific drills and competitive gameplay. This format allows coaches to thoroughly evaluate your daughter’s technical skills, athletic potential, and ability to work as part of a team.

Throughout the process, our coaches collaborate closely with the front office staff to ensure a comprehensive evaluation. We take into account observations from both the open houses and the tryouts, assessing not only skills but also attitude, work ethic, and overall potential. Our goal is to find the best fit for your daughter, ensuring she is placed in an environment where she can grow and succeed.

Team selection at Sky is the result of a thorough and collaborative process. Our coaches and front office staff work closely together, combining observations from both tryouts and open house sessions. This ensures that each player is placed on a team where they can grow, develop their skills, and contribute effectively. Our goal is to make sure each player is positioned for success by finding the best fit for their individual abilities and potential.

Once teams are announced, players will have the opportunity to meet briefly with their coaches to introduce themselves and get an overview of the season ahead. During this meeting, coaches will outline the expectations for the team and provide any initial guidance to help players transition smoothly into the season.

Parents will then be invited to join the team meeting, where they will receive a welcome packet containing important information. This packet will include the team's practice schedule, tournament dates, and other essential details. Additionally, parents will receive paperwork to complete in order to officially secure their daughter’s spot on the roster. Completing this paperwork and any associated registration steps will confirm your child’s place on the team.

Our goal is to ensure the process is as streamlined and transparent as possible, giving families all the information they need to start the season with confidence and clarity.

• Regular = $45

High school players cannot participate if they are rostered on a high school team.

These clinics are designed for advanced 13 through 18 year old girls who have had two or more seasons of club volleyball experience. If your daughter has one year of club volleyball experience, she will be best suited for our Advanced Developmental program. If your daughter does not have any club volleyball experience, she will be best suited for our Beginner Developmental Program.
